Welcome to ACT & Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry!

The Chamber is the largest and strongest Canberra based organisation representing local business, and has a diverse membership, with involvement from a wide variety of business types and sizes across the Canberra region.

As the ‘Voice of Business’ in the ACT, the Chamber represents the business perspective and advocates for local and regional businesses on current and emerging issues affecting them. The Chamber provides members with a range of services to help them meet the challenges facing business today and help them succeed.

Australia Day Public Holiday

Australia Day will be observed as a Public Holiday on Thursday 26 January 2012, in both the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales.

Members should refer to their Enterprise Agreement (if applicable) or the relevant Modern Award to determine the appropriate pay rate for employees required to work on that day. 

Chamber Certified as Industrial Relations Auditor

The Chamber of Commerce has been granted an Industrial Relations and Employment Obligations Strategy (IRE) Certificate to undertake the activities of an Approved Auditor for ACT employers in the building industry.

 

The Certificate allows the Chamber to perform the required audit for contractors (this includes project managers, head contractors, sub-contractors and trade contractors) to tender for building work or be engaged to perform building work on any ACT Government site.

 

The IRE Certificate is part of a package of ACT Government initiatives introduced to ensure industrial relations and employment compliance best practice is part of the culture of the construction industry. Contractors must maintain a current IRE Certificate while they are engaged on an ACT Government site.
