The Chamber is the largest and strongest Canberra based organisation representing local business, and has a diverse membership, with involvement from a wide variety of business types and sizes across the Canberra region.

As the ‘Voice of Business’ in the ACT, the Chamber represents the business perspective and advocates for local and regional businesses on current and emerging issues affecting them. The Chamber provides members with a range of services to help them meet the challenges facing business today and help them succeed.

Business Update - Transitional Pay Rates under Modern Awards

Employers with a Modern Award applying to their employees should now be paying updated rates of pay calculated according to the Modern Award's transitional provisions.  Pay rates under the Award should include the general increase of $26.00 per week (or $0.6842 per hour) determined by Fair Work Australia, and for most classifications a further adjustment will be required under the transitional provisions to determine the minimum pay rate allowed.

Employers paying above-Award wage rates do not have to flow-on the full amount of the FWA increase, provided that the wage rates actually paid remain above (or equal to) the Modern Award pay rates incorporating both the FWA increase and the Transitional Provisions adjustment (if any).
